Now is the time for Rhode Island businesses to consider solar

Rhode Island is creating a robust incentive program to meet Gov. Raimondo’s legislation that the state must achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030.

In January 2020, Gov. Gina Raimondo set Rhode Island’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) goal to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030. Clean energy was cited as creating jobs and protecting against climate change, while strengthening Rhode Island’s economy.

What now?

The Governor mandated the Office of Energy Resources (OER) to create a robust incentive program in support of meeting the RPS mandate. December 2020 is when the program is expected to be released, going live in 2021. The program will fill up quickly and now is the time to evaluate the benefits of solar system to be able to participate once program goes live
