Reflecting on 2022 and looking ahead to 2023, we share some thoughts on where the solar industry is headed based on patterns and advances we’ve observed this year. This exercise is not for the faint of heart, given the “solar coaster” journey that the industry has been on for the last decade-plus; however, recent developments have set the industry on a more reliable growth trajectory for the years ahead.

Aspen Power Partners LLC (“Aspen”), a distributed generation platform with the mission of accelerating decarbonization, announced a $350 million investment from funds managed by global investment firm Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG). The investment supports Aspen’s organic and acquisition-driven growth strategy targeting the community, multifamily, and commercial & industrial (“C&I”) solar and storage markets. To launch this strategy, Aspen has acquired Safari Energy, LLC (“Safari”) from PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL).
