David Heyman, Chief Executive Officer

David serves as CEO of Safari Energy, LLC, based in New York City. He previously served as the company's CFO, starting in 2017. Prior to joining Safari Energy David was CFO of QBS, a real estate services firm, where he led the company’s financial turnaround with several growth and cost cutting initiatives. He was previously SVP of Accounting Policy at Citigroup Investment Bank and a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young’s Financial Services Office where he advised clients and audit teams on structured products, derivatives and financials instruments. David holds a B.S. from Rutgers University, an M.S. from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from Columbia University.

Kirk Edelman, Chief Commercial Officer

Kirk joined Safari Energy following a 12-year career with Siemens, where he most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Financial Services, Inc. as well as CEO of the Global Energy Finance business. Kirk has over 25 years of experience in the energy sector having been an engineer, developer, advisor, OEM, lender and investor. As Chief Commercial Officer, Kirk is responsible for leading Safari Energy's Business Development, Asset Acquisition and Project Development teams. Kirk is a board member of the following organizations: Cornell University’s Program in Infrastructure Policy, the German American Chamber of Commerce and New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Martin Tuckman School of Management. He is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School as well as Bucknell University.

Andrew Blevin, Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Andrew has responsibility for upholding strong financial management and accountability while providing timely, accurate, and reliable financial information for the company. He brings many years of experience in financing renewable and conventional power projects, including solar, wind, biomass and gas-fired power generation, as well as transmission and distribution assets. His principal investing experience includes Senior VP, Finance with Viseon Energy, a portfolio company of the Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Fund, and Managing Director at Abatis Capital and AllCapital. He also worked with the Macquarie Bank Group in Sydney, London and New York, specializing in asset financing transactions in the power, infrastructure, and transportation sectors, and has extensive consulting experience. Andrew holds degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Adelaide.

Patrick Goff, Chief Risk Officer & SVP, Finance

Patrick brings extensive experience in Risk and Finance with 18 years of experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining Safari Energy, Patrick was a Managing Director, Credit Risk at GE Capital Energy Financial Services. His focus was utility scale project finance transactions primarily in Renewables with a focus on wind generation. He has expertise in credit risk, portfolio risk analysis, asset valuation, capital allocation and asset management. Prior to joining GE, he worked at NewPower Holdings, Inc. and was a Manager in Ernst & Young's Real Estate practice. Patrick holds a BBA from Siena College and is a New York State CPA.

Ron Wedeking, SVP, Business Development

Ron joins Safari Energy as Senior Vice President, Business Development. He brings over 30 years of experience in business development and finance with a focus on renewables as well as the traditional energy, water and power markets. In his most recent position as SVP of Business Development at Greenskies Renewable Energy, Ron led a national business development team for one of the largest commercial and industrial solar developers in the nation, providing solutions across project development, finance, construction, operations and maintenance and asset ownership. Ron has held executive leadership roles at leading renewable energy companies including Duke Energy’s REC Solar and Clean Energy Collective, where he was responsible for the successful introduction of new markets totaling over 130 MW of community shared solar. Ron has a B.A. from Northwest University and has completed graduate coursework at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. He is also a certified LEED trainer.

John Duer, Managing Counsel

John leads the legal and compliance functions at Safari Energy and is responsible for aligning those functions with Safari’s business strategy and its execution. Prior to joining Safari, he provided legal and managerial advice to companies in the energy and tech sectors for over 30 years, as general counsel to two energy companies, as chief operating officer for a healthtech company and as a partner with several global law firms. He brings deep knowledge in domestic and cross-border energy, finance and M&A transactions. John started his career as a field artillery officer in the United States Army and holds legal, business and undergraduate degrees from the University of Miami School of Law, Boston University and Dartmouth College.

Kristina Segura, SVP, Human Resources

Kristina brings an extensive background in Human Resources to Safari Energy. Kristina has served as a Senior Global HR Business Partner to executive leaders at Financial Services firms including Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers and more recently served as Vice President of Human Resources for the ultra-high net worth Wealth Management business at Barclays. With over 15 years’ experience, Kristina is well-versed in employee relations, performance management, talent development and organizational design. Kristina earned her B.A. from SUNY Oswego and has completed course work towards her M.B.A. at Dowling College.

John Nordeman, Co-Founder & Managing Director

John brings extensive financial experience as well as deep expertise in the clean tech sector to Safari Energy. In 2003, John joined Eagle Capital Partners, a premier, value-oriented investment fund serving endowments, family offices and high net worth individuals. At Eagle, John played a key role analyzing and investing in bankruptcy re-emergences, spin-offs and other special situation investments. In addition he helped grow fund assets from $100 million to over $1 billion. Previously, John was an equity analyst with Merrill Lynch. John provides leading solutions in solar project finance to Safari Energy’s portfolio of public and private real estate clients, and oversees the company’s client development efforts. John holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

John Lind, Managing Director, Business Development

John has over two decades of diverse account management experience, with extensive relationships in the commercial and industrial real estate industries. Over the last 10+ years with Safari Energy, John has developed hundreds of solar power projects for REITs, institutional and private portfolio owners across all asset classes. He previously served as Managing Partner with real estate advisory firm NOI Strategies, a division of CohnReznick, where he implemented operational cost saving strategies for large REITs. He was also SVP of Commercial Services with Zenta, an Accenture company, in charge of operational efficiency strategies for large real estate owners and investors. Additional experience includes Warmington Group, a Bay area developer, Legacy Partners and Sumitomo Bank. Based in New York, John is a frequent speaker at real estate and sustainability events nationally. He holds a BS in Resource Economics from The University of Maryland.

Angie Daoud, Vice President, Project Development & Construction

Angie oversees the project development team at Safari Energy. She is a performance-driven professional with 18+ years of experience in leadership and problem solving for electromechanical, infrastructure and solar energy projects. Prior to joining Safari Energy, Angie spent several years working in various project management, development and operations roles at Trina Solar, ForeFront Power and Sunpower. Prior to that, she held various engineering and operations positions at companies in Egypt, including the DMG Dar Al Mimar Group. Angie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical and Systems Engineering from Cairo University and a Foundation Degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Cambridge. Angie is fluent in English, Arabic and French.

Brian Yeung, Executive Director, Controller

Brian manages all the financial reporting and controls as well as the accounting and tax department for Safari Energy. His previous experience includes over 18 years of controllership, financial planning and analysis, and audit experience, including, most recently, Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. where he provided monthly reporting and analysis for a $2 billion asset portfolio. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and holds a B.S. from Syracuse University.

Paulo Perillo, Executive Director, Engineering & Systems

Paulo brings over 10 years of renewable energy engineering and technical experience to Safari Energy. He hold a M.S in Energy Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brasilia in Brazil. Paulo oversees the engineering of Safari's projects and is in charge of driving technology innovation and process optimization within the company through automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

Joe Hao, Executive Director, Asset Management

Joe joined Safari Energy in 2015 and oversees both Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) functions for the company. Prior to Safari, he spent several years working in the oil & gas and petrochemical industry in Asia and the Middle East. Joe also taught the course International Project and Infrastructure Finance at Columbia University from 2020-2021, and he holds a master’s degree from Columbia University in Energy and Environment with specialization in Data Analytics. Joe also has a keen interest in cultural diversity, having worked in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka as a United Nations volunteer during their civil wars.
